“Glue” in Meat?

by Mollie on March 14, 2010

There are so many different food choices at the supermarket these days.  I used to think that if it was in my grocery store, then it must be safe for me to eat.  Sure, I knew about the obvious unhealthy choices, but I never questioned any of those ingredients with long, hard-to-pronounce names. Now, I’m no expert, but I’ve become such a label reader that a little red flag goes up whenever I have a hard time pronouncing an ingredient!

So, thrombian, and/or transglutaminase… do you see any little red flags?  Okay, maybe they aren’t the toughest words to pronounce but check out this article, then tell me what you think!

Remember, not all hard-to-pronounce names are “bad”.  But if you see too many or you don’t recognize it, think twice and maybe do a little research.  One of the best pieces of grocery shopping advice I ever heard was:  Shop at the perimeter of the store, that’s where most of the REAL FOOD is!

Thanks for tuning in!
